Japanese influence has always been there on western fashion. Remember the Harajuku girls in Gwen Stefani’s Rich Girl that led her to start a whole fashion line on Harajuku styles (a place in Japan known to be the center of youth and fashion culture). Then there is Diane Von Furstenberg’s uber-popular kimono collection. European designers like Elie Saab and Dior often have Japanese inspirations in their fashion shows as well. In fact, Dior released the Dior Samourai Woven Bag 1947 on their 60th anniversary.
However, recently the Japanese inspirations have gained immense popularity. Look around and you are bound to see the obi belts, kimono flyaways, bucket hats and cherry blossom prints on someone or the other. Think Coachella and you will definitely see some of these influences there.
Personally I have been hooked to the Kimono Cardigan trend myself. It is so easy to pair it. As much as I love designer outfits, I am a sucker for street wear. Sometimes you get the most unique clothes in small local shops. In this post, I have worn many of those finds including the clutch ,my bracelet, my top and of course the Kimono jacket.
- Occasion : Poolside Brunch with The Girlfriends
- Outfit : Vintage Floral Boho Kimono Cardigan ( Local Street Shop, Qiaomei ) ; High Waist Shorts (Cotton On ) ; Black Crop top (Local Street shop in Singapore) ; Nude Pumps ( DMK ) ; Floral Clutch and Bracelet ( Local Street Shop in India ) ; Purple Aviators ( Rayban )
- Style tip : To start with, buy a multi-colored Kimono so that it can be paired up with a number of things. Since my kimono has elements of various colors, I have been able to use it a number of times. In fact one of my favorite ensemble apart from the below, is this kimono cardigan and a blue dress I have, along with the same nude pumps. You can also try a kimono flyaway with tassels. They provide a very boho look which is perfect if you want to stand out.
We heart you,♥
