We all know hair and face masks time to time is necessary. Outside pollution and weather can strip the natural oils on our face and cause dirt to pile up. However I do understand that masks are quite expensive and we are never sure if they will suit our skin or not let alone how effective it is. The only thing we can do is rely on reviews but yet never be sure as each persons experience is different.
I have a couple of favourite mask brands that I use but my go-to facial mask is actually home-made and all natural. Whether I use facial masks or not, I always make it a point to use this recipe once in two weeks especially when I am in a rush as it is so easy to prepare and apply.Plus it is very effective with everything available in your kitchen.
Things you Need :
- Quarter slice lemon
- Half a teaspoon of honey
- One Tablespoon rolled oats
- Quarter banana mashed
- Half Tablespoon milk
- Quarter teaspoon of organic turmeric powder
Oats is added to the mixture as it acts as a great exfoliator. The rest of the items are great for cleansing and making your face feel soft and supple.
Step 1: Take some banana and mix it with the oats. Squeeze the lemon in it and mix in the honey and milk. Do not add extra milk as it will make the paste too runny.
Step 2: Mash and mix everything together till the mixture is like a paste. Add in a quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder (preferably organic) to the mixture and mix well.
Step 3: The mask paste is ready. Cool it for a minute or two so the paste is not too liquidy and then apply it directly to your face. You can use the paste even if it is runny but make sure you apply well and tie a towel around your neck so the paste doesn’t drip all over.
Step 4: Use the oats in the mixture to scrub gently on your face and neck especially around the nose where you might have blackheads.
Step 5: Let the mixture stay on your face for 3-5 minutes and then gently wash it off with lukewarm water.
Step 6 : Use a toner ( I use Rose Water) and moisturize after.
This mask instantly makes my face feel clean and glowy without using any artifical products. I even used this mask right before my wedding and it did wonders.
Do try it and let me know if it worked for you and how your skin felt after.
We heart you,
