I recently had a chance to collaborate with Verlocal and try out one of their classes. When I looked at their website they had tons of great options from italian cooking class, to yummy pastry baking, chocolate cake making, candle art, hiking, wine classes, etc. You will be totally spoilt for option.
Personally my husband and I love cooking at at home and since we love Thai Food, trying Thai cooking class was our pick. The Thai class was held at Mission with a super fun lady called Sunshine.
When we entered, she welcomed us whole heartedly with a glass of wine. Her house was gorgeous and we introduced ourselves to the rest of the group. It was a small group of 8 including us, which made the entire experience very intimate and friendly.
We were given the menu for the day. It was a 3 course meal with delicious options :
Appetizer : Mango Salad
Entree : Pad See Yu
Dessert : Fried Banana with vanilla ice cream
Just looking the the menu made our tummy growl. Sunshine proceeded by introducing us to the ingredients so we know what really makes Thai food so special. She also told us the local places where we can get the authentic thai ingredients from. We were then divided into groups to start the process by cutting, peeling, etc. It was great fun to prep the ingredients as we were all working while chatting and drinking wine together .
Sunshine taught us step by step. The process was simple – Teach , Cook and Eat for each menu item. So after we finished making the mango salad, we all sat on the table with our glass of wine and ate it. After finishing our mango salad , we repeated the process for Pad See Yu and the yummy banana dessert.
Which was my favourite? – All of them were super yummy but my personal favourite was Pad See Yu. Whenever my husband and I visit Thai restaurants we always order Pad See Yu, so learning how to make that dish simply delighted us.
