Where should you go shopping for groceries in expensive San Francisco?
One of my favorite places to go is Gus’s Community Market. I have scoured various supermarkets to see which San Francisco grocery store has the best and most affordable fresh and organic stuff to buy. Trader Joe’s undoubtedly is amazing but one of my new favorites is Gus’s Community Market especially because it’s so near to my home. Plus the variety of products they have is insane.
Gus’s Market has been a local neighborhood staple for almost 40 years and is by locals for locals. A lot of their vegetables, fruits, meats, fish are sourced locally.
My favorite area in Gus’s is their cheese section. They have various types of cheese to choose from and also offer tastings of some of their newly arrived and popular cheese.
Some of the products that I usually pick up from my favorite San Francisco grocery store are: Oatly Milk ( obsessed with oat milk recently), Hu(man) Chocolate ( it’s vegan, gluten free and deliciously dark), Fever Tree Tonic Water ( If you aren’t having your gin with Fever Tree Tonic water, you are really missing something), pomegranates, mandarin oranges, organic tofu, cured meats and fish and poke bowl from their poke/ramen counter.
If you live in San Francisco, they have a couple of locations including Mission Bay, Mission, Haight and Noriega.
