“There is no excuse to look tardy”- This is the first thing I tell all my clients who ask me for any dressing advice. Unless you are at home, where you can be in your Pjs or even birth suit, there shouldn’t be any reason why you can’t dress decently if not your best.
Research says it takes almost the same time to dress well as much as it takes to not dress well. It is how well you can train yourself to put together your best look in the shortest time. I understand that there could be days where you get up late, miss the snooze, feel sick or just lazy. In such times, there are a few tricks you can apply to still dress up in a way that doesn’t make you look like you have gotten straight out of bed.
1. Wear all black :
If it is one of those days where you just don’t want to put in any thought to matching things and don’t have a dress code, go for all black. Studies say that black automatically makes you look more attractive.
2. Layer :
So you didn’t get up on time to iron your shirt. Well that is no excuse to wear a crumpled one to work. Put on a sweater over it with a tie beneath or even a blazer. This will give out an impression that you are dressed well even though your shirt beneath may be full of wrinkles.. Girls can opt for layers in the form of cardigans as well. If it is too hot and you have no choice, wear a darker shade of shirt than a lighter one. It will relatively hide the wrinkles as compared to a light coloured shirt. Women can also use scarves to hide creases.
3. Eyeliner and lipstick to go :
You haven’t been sleeping well and you have big eye bags. This might give an impression to your colleagues that you are tired and may not be able to focus your best. Hence it is important to look fresh always. In such a situation, if you don’t have time to moisturise and put make up on your face, go for a quick solution. Either underline your eye with a light eyeliner and some concealer or put on a nice light work lipstick like wine red or light coral, to take away the attention from you eye. These two tricks will instantly brighten up your face.
4. Think the night before :
The best solution to save yourself the morning rush is to always think what you will be wearing the next day the night before. It might take more effort but it will relax your mornings.
5. Dress simple but clean or Accessorise :
If you are in a rush, don’t try and put too many things together. Men can opt for a wrinkle-free polo shirt and jeans. Women can go for a simple black dress or a white shirt with jeans. They are classics and always look good. Women also have the option of accessorising. Quickly put on a statement necklace which will bring all the attention to it giving you some scope to get away with your dressing.
