As a new home owner, one of the first areas we wanted to get organized was our kitchen. There were two things we wanted to ensure:
a) Everything is categorized and easy to find
b) Things that are used frequently should be easily accessible.
Luckily since we have a separate pantry, we could organize our stuff much more easily than when we were living in a one bedroom. So on this blog today, I’ll be sharing 5 things that helped us to quickly get our initial kitchen set up organized
These items will work whether you live in a house like we do now or a smaller space like we used to. I’ll have a blog post coming in the near future of our entire kitchen reveal, which will include different areas but for now, let’s get into the five things that will make your kitchen more organized.
Spice Rack and Spice organizer
As an Indian, I use a lot of spices, so one of the first things I bought for my new kitchen was a spice drawer rack and spice organizer. I used two drawers near the stove to organize my spices. One drawer was for western spices and one for indian.
I bought a drawer spice organizer from Amazon that was expandable, hence I could fit it according to my drawer sizer. I definitely do recommend measuring the length of your drawer to ensure the spice rack fits – though the size is pretty standard.
As for the organizers, I bought a couple of small mason jars for the less frequently used spices and a larger one for the ones I use more frequently. I also ordered custom labels from Etsy which are oil-free and waterproof.

Food Containers
This was really important to me as Kaushik and I love to cook. So we wanted our pantry to look consistent as well as have bpa-free healthy cannisters and containers.
For cereals, flour, rice, we used bigger containers
For sugar, cornflour we used smaller canisters that we could keep within our reach.
Ladle Holders
Since our kitchen island is of marble finish and our kitchen tiles are white, I wanted our kitchen counter accessories to be in similar aesthetic. For that, we chose a marble ladle holder which is actually a wine cooler. The reason I went for a wine cooler is because it was big enough to contain most ladles and it looked pretty as well. In this, we keep our most frequently used ladles and place it by the stove top.
Oil Holders
Earlier, we were using olive oil straight from the bottle it came in till I realized it is always better to put them in glass bottles and clean them before every refill.
So I bought these amazing oil jars that have spouts which can close for daily use

Salt and Pepper holder
Since we use Himalayan pink salt and pepper in almost all our food, I wanted this to be near our kitchen stove. I was so happy when I found the perfect marble salt holder with a divider to put both salt and pepper. What I loved most was it was quite heavy so gave it the stability I needed. I placed my oil and salt holder on a heavy marble lazy susan by the stove so everything is easily accessible.
Pan/Lid Organizer
This organizer was a game changer. Having so many pots and pans, I needed something which could accomodate my lighter daily use pans along with lids. I have placed one in the cabinet near our stove and one in our pantry.
