The Trend Called Bandi – Tommy Hilfiger celebrates 10 years

Tommy Hilfiger celebrated it’s 10 anniversary in India by introducing the limited collection of Bandi.Hilfiger aims to blend India’s traditional outfit with it’s modern outlook to create a fashionable trend called the “preppy Bandi”. The traditional Bandi has been given the signature Tommy look with monogram buttons,classic stripe lining and contrast stitching.It is available in introduced in two colours – denim and suede.

What is a Bandi  : The bandi or the bandh gala jacket (closed neck) is a traditional sleeveless indian jacket which closes around the neck once buttoned up.It is a shorter version of the Nehru Jacket. The bandi is commonly  worn by Indian politicians but gained international popularity after Indian Prime Minister,Narendra Modi started wearing it to international events.

The Bandi was also introduced as an upcoming trend by Manish Malhotra, a leading Indian Fashion Designer in his summer 2014 collection.

How to wear the Bandi : The Bandi can be worn at both formal and informal events.It looks best with white shirts but can be worn with different colored half or full shirts depending on the colour of the bandi. Red bandi for example go very well with black,dark blue ,white or even cream shirts.
